why not just simply get a mig with an aluminum wire feed.
my friends grandpa bought a lincoln mig about 2 years ago, with an aluminum wire feed, it's the nascar edition(just has a sticker on the side of it :wink1). the aluminum feed works not bad for how much you may use it.

How much and where?
Black Ice
you can pick up a smaller mig at canadian tire for about 400 but also check Arrow welding if there is one in calgary they might have some decent used ones to
V8Mercury
The smaller mig's don't work very well for aluminum. You need a high frequency machine and the gun that holds the small role of wire right near the tip. You also need different gas. pure Argon or Argon 1%O2
If buying a mig to do body work or stuff around the house. DONT buy a flux core machine, the gas ones are much better.

he can come use one of my 3 any time he needs..
but answer the question about cages..lol

Building one would probably take a lot of time, cause you gotta fit, bend, weld and paint it. But welding it in shoulden't be that hard at all.
Getsome17
I have done it but I am not the greatest at it cause we barly ever use it
