View Thread : Lowering question

Can you have a lower look on a car without lowering it? Like can you go with big tires or something?
cheers.
Jeff
ya, bigger tires (taller) will fill the wells more.
but unless you get a larger wheel aswell it could look pretty bad with that much rubber.
lowering a Z28 is pretty cheap though.

The alternate too the tires would be to put the ground affects on. That will add the lowered look to your car, but really I would just get the springs and drop it, the car handles way better too.

I have my little civic lowered and trust me the ride really sux. I wish i had not lowered it then again, the car still has the same factory struts when she was born is 1990.
I don't want my Z28 to feel like that. Every bump or pothole i go over is a nightmare for me and it feels like i'm really damaging my front suspension.

Well your first mistake is you cannot use facotry struts for lowing springs, even brand new factory replacements will not work well with lowering springs.
With the faster spring rate and worn factory struts you probably were damaging stuff, the struts are not made for the faster spring rate.
Get yourself a set of SLP eibach springs and the matching SLP valved bilstiens.
you will drop about an inch over stock z28, get handling thats way better then stock, and a ride that is much better then a z28.
getting taller tires will just look stupid IMO. esspeically with the salad shooters.
I like the look of the ZR1 SS wheels that came on the SS, the wider tire will help traction and handling too.
might want to look into new LCA for the rear with a poly bushing on the axel side and a rubber on the body side (or is it the other way aroun?) to help with wheel hop.
the ground effects for the camaro look horid.
Mercury
chopped springs are almost never a good idea.
i lowered my car and in this city i also wish i didnt.. going back to stock ride hight is year

Well like i said before on my other threads, I did buy 18 and 19 rims for my car but i am saving some money to buy tires. Very expensive tires each one 275/30/19 $598 bucks for 1 tire.

Got a set of 235/40/18's by Falken (for the front) for 240$ a tire. I dont have them, I can get them. I am not sure what the cost would be for the rears, I could find out.

didnt see that thread.
shop around.
what size are the fronts? and what tire is it that you want to put on, I can phone a guy I know and get a price.
Also, look into the states, as long as they will ship USPS, with the CDN at more then 90 cents USD things are getting real cheap out of the states.
you could go a bit taller of tire, but I would try and get some even used SLP springs and the matching bilstien shocks.
I know new they are 600 USD for the set.

I got a quote. He said $570.00 for a pair of summer performance. I think they were Kuhmo's. I'll double check with him. That's a decent price right? or should i still shop around?

What size did you want for the front?

I'm thinking 245/40/18 or 255/35/18
