Intake being made

Just thought I would let you guys know how its goin with my intake.
I spend under an hour a day working on it every other day, no real rush to get it done, just as long as its ready for the Bov when that arrives.

It is going to be a smooth single peice made out of steel tubing, its a little thicker than I want it to be but thats okay, it allows me to contour the insides to increase ease of flow. The intake is composed of three peices welded together to create the bends and the inside will be ground down to not cause any turbulence for the airflow, The turbo flange has already been made and welded to the first part of the tube, once I get the time to keep my car in the shop for more than 20 minutes then I will mount it on there and cut the other two peices to fit.
Also the peice will be teflon coated for durability air flow and looks! Hmmm, wonder if I should nickel plate it?

You should try to design the intake so when you want to add an intercooler you won't need to remake the intake like bryan did. But then again you'd have to know what kind of intercooler you're gonna use. Just a thought...

As for paint/coating it, instead of nickel it might be a good idea to see about ceramic coating it...for looks and heat conductivity. :2up: Not sure what pricing would be like though... :shock :no:

You wouldn't believe the coatings my shop has to offer! We used to do ceramics, but I have a coating that I spray that is resistant to 450 F that on the outside and teflon on the inside!

Well I wouldn't say the RA was gleaming...it's nasty-dirty, to the point where everytime I see it I say to myself how much I "should" clean it...but what's the point right now when it'll look like it again tomorrow.

As for the XR, a friend let me park it in his "temporary" garage for the winter(from about late Nov-Dec.) so I figured I'd take the opportunity in part b/c I really need a new clutch(which should finally be in next week, after being ordered 3 times over the course of the last 5-6 months, and might just be the last time I ever order from Dix Performance :finger) and partly just to reduce the chance for rust to form. :2up:

So with any luck the clutch will be in on the 16th, installed that weekend, and she'll back on the road...it sucks going back to 1 car...even if it is a pretty fun car, hehe. :wacko

i still got a great condition stock t9 clutch if anyone wants it... open to any offers!!!!!!

Ironically the cluch alone is worth almost if not just as much as the whole tranny... :twofinger
