Here's the details of the car and my plans for it........

Currently:
============
Stock 1980 Lincoln Continental Mark VI
351W V-8
2bbl carb
Ford AOD Tranny
Fron disc / Rear Drum Brakes
3.08:1 7.5" Diff

Hopes & Dreams:
============

To rebuild the car to a showroom condition and appearance while adding hidden assets (i.e. more HP) to make it more pleasurable and fun to cruise around in.

Apperarance:
Stock body panelling
replace all exterior lighting with LED's and high intensity headlamps
trunk detailed with custom upholstery and embroidered with Lincoln logo on the floor

Interior:
Restore to stock with the addition of a hidden CD player and upgraded sound system.

Steering & Suspension:
Upgrade to close ratio steering box for better response
Lower the front end two inches and the rear three inches
Add air suspension to allow ride adjustment for street/mild strip or road race duty

Braking:
Change to a four wheel disc system to improve brake power and hopefully retain original rims

Out Back:
Change 7.5" diff to ford 9" with 2.73 gearing
Retain steel driveshaft but upgrade to HD U-joints

Tranny:
Ford AOD rebuild and tighten the ratios up slightly and install shift kit to increase response

Da Block:
Rebuild 351W to a potent but streetable level without losing the quiet ride associated with the Lincoln name. Not too sure about the specifics yet but would include a NOS system for added insurance.

Exhaust:
Original system with muffler, resinator and catalytic converter but with cable operated cut outs and headers added.

Restoration Time:
15-20 years done properly

Time to being streetable:
1-2 years after rebuilding the front end and finding proper seatbelts for the front seats ($$$ the big issue)

Mercury
