View Thread : T-9 Clutch Kit

Khobin~
Hey, anyone know where I can find a good clutch kit at a decent price here in Edmonton...or at least Canada so I don't have to worry about customs.

My clutch started slipping last week and not is to the point where as soon as the turbo starts boosting it slips. So needless to say the past 2 days I've been driving to and from like a old granny.

BAT in the US has some different ones (Sachs, and Centreforce), and Nick (the guy at Cdn. Tire) has 2 in stock(Dynapacs) but hasn't given me a price yet.

I was just wondering if there were other places I should be looking, or if someone had one they bought, but isn't used and they don't need.

Thanks for any help.

I've got one, used, but in good condition, was only in my car for a few months, a few of those months included sitting on a driveway doing nothing! Check the wings post if you want more info about the t5. I also ahve a t9 for sale for cheap! I'll let the clutch go for dirt cheap, the tranny too! Shoot me a PM or add me to your msn if u want it!

Hey, thanks for the offer but I'd rather go new then used... plus a guy at my work can get in the Centreforce for about $195 cdn +gst, and I found another guy in town with a Dynapack kit that would give it to me for $250, so not sure which one I'm going to go for...timewise the Dynapack would be the better deal as I could get it now, where as the Centerforce I'll have to wait 3-6weeks, unless I pay a ton for special ordering, in which case it's still 10-15 Days...

IMHO, i don't see the point in bothering with a new t9 clutch, when it'll have to be replaced when you do the t5 swap. And most likely you'll blow the guibo/t9/diff with a more potent clutch than stock. Not sure if you knew this previously or not, but the t9 isn't designed for anything more than stock xr power, which isn't alot. If i were you, i'd find a used t9 clutch, and save the extra pennies for the t5 swap. The t5 swap is the greatest thing to happen to the xr's!

i would not recomend much more than a dyna pack or a centerforce 1.. much mor than that your gona break trany ect.. the t9 is made of glass... save your coin fo rthe t5.. we can help you do it. its easy

hrm...the thing is I don't seeing doing any mods to the car for atleast a year...besides maybe a K&N.

Right now it's a matter of wanting to buy a house next yr if possible, so mods will have to wait a bit. Ergo I want something that will be sure to last a while, in terms or wearing out.

I'm not sure yet of what I want to do...

If the T-9 is that bad then Nick might have some reall issues as he's planning to use his XR's for rallying...or so he said.

I think the t9 would be a poor choice for rallying. Plus parts are not readily available, nor are they cheap. The t5 is easily replaced/rebuilt, parts are a dime a dozen and available everywhere ( we have the mustang to thank for that! ).

The only bonus to the t9 is that it can easily be removed/installed in the merkur, due to the way the bellhousing bolts thread into the transmission. So you don't have to pull a bellhousing, instead u can just drop the driveshaft and unbolt the tranny and yank it out.

Also if there is plans to rally a xr with a t9, there is about 3 extra good condition t9's readily available here in the city. I'm sure they could be purchased for next to nothing. I would definately get my hands on a spare or two if i was in that situation. But the t5 is definately the way to go!
